Garda Cup Shield Champions!
The Football Garda Cup is a 7 a-side football competition
that takes place every year in Gort. It was held on the 16th of
October this year. A panel of ten represented our school at the tournament on the day. The
players were Luke Forde, Peter Monaghan, Luke Clarke, Luke Martyn, Alex Haugh,
Ben Lalor, Adam Fitzgerald, Michael Cotter, Colin Counihan and Fabien
Fleetwood.
We played Northampton N.S in the first match and won. The
second match we unfortunately lost to Kinvara N.S who were the overall winners
on the day. We came second in our group so we qualified for the shield
semi-final.
We played Ballymanagh N.S. in the shield semi final and we
won. Then we went on to play Ballyglass N.S in the final. We won the match
comfortably. Peter Monaghan was our captain and he received the cup. We all got
medals on the day, we were the shield champions!
